Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers - was born on August 8, 1989, in Paris. When she was just five and moved to Oxfordshire and attended the Dragon School. Emma was only six when she decided she wanted to become an actress. She studied for a number of years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she studied acting as well as singing. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach as well as school plays when she was ten years old. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The movie adaptation to J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was filmed for the first time at the beginning of 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film on the screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. The film broke records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature in 2001. The film was praised by critics and its performances by the three leading young actors. The widely distributed British publication The Daily Telegraph called her performances admirable. Emma received five awards in recognition of her work in the film.
